7th l o s t s o u l ~ [Voice]

[The last event left Cheyenne in a weird place and since then, she's been rather scarce around the village. Aside from getting food at one of the village restaurants, she's spent most of her time either in her apartment or in the forests just outside the village. Today, she's actually back to her usual spot: sitting on the edge of one of Luceti's many bridges, looking down at the water.]

[A few hours of this goes by until she finally opens her journal and poses a question to the residents. The very thing that's been on her mind all this time.]

It is not uncommon for others to ask questions using these journals, yes? [A pause. She wasn't really expecting an answer to that.]

...what do you think it means to be a "person"?

That is am interesting way of defining it. That even a human could not be a person... [She trails off for a moment.]

Would you extend this definition to a creature who, despite their best intentions, was dangerous?

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
There is being dangerous and there is acting out in a dangerous manner. So, which one do you refer to?
illusional: (I saw what you did there.)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-17 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose in this regard, I am referring to simply being dangerous.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
People can be dangerous, but they choose to act out on that danger. To act out in a way that is not useful to society and creates a detriment is not being a 'person' in my eyes. [...] Everyone sees it different I guess.

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-17 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
That is what I am beginning to notice. I was not aware such a word could have so many definitions.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-18 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but consider this. You do not need to conform to all definitions. Conform to the one most convenient for you to believe in. For me, it is the definition I have lived by my entire life.
illusional: (I saw what you did there.)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-18 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
The one most convenient... that does seem like the most ideal option, really. I've yet to see much consensus over which definition is best.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-18 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Don't look for a consensus. You should decide what you want in the end. The opinions of others do not matter, unless you are attempting to conform to a norm.
illusional: (Can you tell how I feel right now?)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-18 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
And if I do not know what it is I want?

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-18 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Then you should think about it, now that people have given you ideas of what it means to be a person.
illusional: (Innocent until proven guilty.)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-18 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose that is the most logical course of action, isn't it.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Being logical is also a very important factor to being a person.

[At least for Homura. She doesn't associate with morons.]

Re: voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-20 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Is it? I would think reacting emotionally would be most likely associated with being a person.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Emotions...[her thoughts drift to a certain emotionless being in her world, before coming back to the conversation.] Perhaps. But, emotions can be easily faked.
illusional: (Oh how shocking! [/sarcasm])

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-22 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
In that case, would it not mean they are not true emotions? And if they are not true emotions, they would not truly be acting emotionally.

After all, it is possible for a creature to look like a person without actually being a person.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Not always. Some creatures are incapable of emotion, but others choose to fake their own for whatever reason. [Like her, for example.] Still you are right. However, I do not judge by emotion, but by action. They speak stronger than words in the end.
illusional: (Can you tell how I feel right now?)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-22 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
...you are familiar with creatures that are incapable of emotion?

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am. It's a pain, but I need to deal with them.

[Not only Kyuubey, but the Witches and their Familiars. It's just part of her life now.]
illusional: (:|)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-24 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Are they a problem in your world? If you do not mind my asking.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Somewhat. It's under control for the time being.
illusional: (Can you tell how I feel right now?)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-26 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I see. [A pause.] Are they beings that you would consider to be monsters?

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
[She is silent for a moment, but comes up with her answer shortly.]

If they are not a 'person' as I mentioned before, then they are simply nothing to me.
illusional: (I saw what you did there.)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-27 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
A creature that is neither a monster nor a person, nor anything at all...

They sound unpleasant.

voice;

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-05-27 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
I simply have no time to care for things that do not contribute to the greater good for society as a whole. That is all there is to say on the matter.
illusional: (Innocent until proven guilty.)

voice;

[personal profile] illusional 2011-05-27 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hm... [A pause.]

By the by, I don't believe I had the chance to ask your name. Yours is a voice I haven't heard through the journal before.
