Greetings, residents of Luceti. I am called Cheyenne, and there is something I wish to ask of you all.

By tomorrow, it will have been a month since my arrival in Luceti. I have, for the most part, remained unseen. I would have continued such a manner of living for the benefit of others here, but circumstances make such a lifestyle impossible for a creature such as myself. I am what is called an Illusionist. My kind is considered a monster in my world, due to what we must do to survive.

That is to say, illusionists feed on the souls of other living creatures.

To follow that, I feel I must add that the term "soul" may be different in my world as it is to your own. Illusionists see the soul in four parts, one of which naturally fluxuates throughout the day. Feeding on this section, Power, does little more than tire a creature in the same way that running a mile would tire a creature... no, not even to that extent. The process is truly harmless. You see, I am unique in terms of illusionists. My sisters feel no remorse in draining the souls of innocent creatures. I, however, do not wish to do so against the wishes of a creature who would feel uncomfortable in such a situation. Nor do I wish to bring harm to those residing in the village.

And so, I am here asking if there is anyone in Luceti who would be willing to allow me to feed off of them.

Ideally, I would only be required to feed on a particular person one time every few weeks. I only need to feed once or twice a week to contain my hunger. If I were in a desperate state, once a month would be enough to keep me sane. Although that is, by far, not a very ideal situation for myself...

Should anyone be so willing as to aid me, I would like a chance to meet with you sometime soon so that I may be sure it would be safe to feed from you. As the Power of a soul relates directly a creature's own stamina, those who are prone to frequent illness or weakness would be best to refrain from offering. And, if you are so willing, I will also show the process by which I feed so you know what to expect in the future.

I thank you for listening to all I have to say. Should you have any comments or concerns to ask about, I am willing to answer them here.

[[ooc: Okay, a few things to clarify in regards to Cheyenne's feeding! First, if you haven't filled out her permissions post, please do so here! It makes threading with her much easier if I know whether or not she can see your character.

And now, the feeding itself. If your character agrees to this, Cheyenne will appear at their home once every few weeks to feed. It takes about 5 minutes and will make your character light-headed or sleepy for a few hours, or until they eat something. Most of this will likely be hand-waived in the future, seeing as Cheyenne will probably just feed-and-leave for the most part.

In this post, Cheyenne will need to meet your character in person to see if they're safe to feed on, so this will be one of the few times the feeding will be played out! Illusionists can't over-eat souls, so she will be doing multiple feedings in one day just this once. If you want, we can hand-waive this as well and you can just have your character volunteer. Also, feel free to bombard her with questions; eating souls is serious business, after all. :|b If you have questions for me, you can PM Cheyenne's account or (for a faster answer) send me a message on AIM at Precure Black.

And finally, since I know there are a lot of people on hiatus right now, don't worry if you missed this thread! Chances are Cheyenne may ask again so she won't have to feed on the same people as often. Otherwise, I don't mind people backtagging this thread, in which you can assume they saw it at a different time screw you, space-time continuum! <3]]

A Soul is made of four parts?

[ He manages to make it sound curious enough that it pretty much overrides the tone more suiting his immediate gut reaction of THIS IS A VERY BAD CREATURE. ]

In the eyes of an illusionist, yes, although as far as I am aware, only illusionists separate those parts from one another without damaging the soul as a whole.

Power is the least damaging section to draw from, as it constantly replenishes itself. Strength is similarly safe, but much more difficult to safely separate from Length, which is much more dangerous to remove. And under no circumstances would I ever willingly draw from the Potency of a soul.

[A pause.] Though I suppose those terms mean far more to an illusionist than to someone who does not understand the process...

... What are those each for, then? How does it separate? [ He's just trying to get this to make sense with his own world's concept of a Soul. And figuring out if he should be trying to kill her ]

Length is the simplest. It represents both the physical length of a soul, as well as the self-preservation of a creature. A short soul would imply a creature with very little desire to continue living.

Strength determines how difficult it is to separate the parts of a soul, and is mostly only relevant to illusionists.

Power is the stamina and energy a creature has at any given time. It goes down naturally throughout the day and increases while eating or resting. That is why feeding on this section is safer than the others, as it is one that will merely replenish at a later time.

The last is Potency. It is the section of the soul that defines everything that makes a person who they are, from their emotions to their most basic feelings. While removing a fraction of this is all right, any more than 10% would emotionally cripple someone for any given amount of time. More than 50% would make these effects permanent.

As for how they are separated, that is something that is quite difficult to explain in words. I do not see creatures as they are; I sense their souls. I need only be near a creature to know exactly how long and strong their soul is, how potent, and how much energy they have at any given time. Explaining the process is akin to explaining why humans can see trees and houses. It is just part of being an illusionist.

In your world, one's current stamina is tied to their Soul? [ The rest seems to have parallels in his world. His own concept of Soul, what's represented by code, and even elements from Music. But stamina... that wasn't a tangible thing. It had no ties that could be manipulated beyond sheer brute force.

By what he knew, changing it internally should be impossible. ]

Is that not the case in your own? [Head-tilt.] As far as I have seen, most of the creatures living in Luceti have souls that follow the same pattern as those in my own... perhaps it more of an illusionist-specific distinction than I thought.

It just seems like a strange thing to be involved with it. In my world, many regard the soul as being somewhat distinct from the body, where one is a transient thing, and the other continues on long after the person dies. So for distance from death, or for the current state of the body, to have some sort of bearing on Soul seems to go against that thought.

[ Lalala not mentioning that's not what he believes, but if Japan wanted to stick with Shintoism, he wasn't going to be the one to tell them the truth. ]

I suppose it is possible the meaning of the word "soul" simply bears a different meaning in your world as to mine? The word itself was coined by those whom were fed upon in my world by my kind, so perhaps "soul" was merely a fitting term in their eyes?

Hmm, possibly. [ And he is trying to figure out how to ask her about it more without conveying that yes, his world has Soul as a tangible concept that is similar yet distinctly off from what she's describing. ] Though I suppose asking you what you would call it is probably meaningless.

That is correct, seeing as I had no word for it prior to using the term "soul". Even the word used for what I am, an Illusionist, was decided by those who lived in my previous world.

Do you know why they chose those terms?

The term illusionist, I am certain, stems from my kind's ability to create illusions in the mind of those we feed upon. It is the way the soul is drawn out of the body; our illusions make portions of the soul vulnerable enough to be drawn out.

As for "soul", I am uncertain, although I believe it was the result of folklore regarding my kind. While I do not feed on anything save for Power, other illusionists choose Potency to feast upon. Should a creature survive having their soul taken out in its entirety, what is left appears as little more than an empty husk with no thoughts or desires. They believed this to be akin to having no soul, thus, the illusionist must have removed it.
