Greetings, residents of Luceti. I am called Cheyenne, and there is something I wish to ask of you all.

By tomorrow, it will have been a month since my arrival in Luceti. I have, for the most part, remained unseen. I would have continued such a manner of living for the benefit of others here, but circumstances make such a lifestyle impossible for a creature such as myself. I am what is called an Illusionist. My kind is considered a monster in my world, due to what we must do to survive.

That is to say, illusionists feed on the souls of other living creatures.

To follow that, I feel I must add that the term "soul" may be different in my world as it is to your own. Illusionists see the soul in four parts, one of which naturally fluxuates throughout the day. Feeding on this section, Power, does little more than tire a creature in the same way that running a mile would tire a creature... no, not even to that extent. The process is truly harmless. You see, I am unique in terms of illusionists. My sisters feel no remorse in draining the souls of innocent creatures. I, however, do not wish to do so against the wishes of a creature who would feel uncomfortable in such a situation. Nor do I wish to bring harm to those residing in the village.

And so, I am here asking if there is anyone in Luceti who would be willing to allow me to feed off of them.

Ideally, I would only be required to feed on a particular person one time every few weeks. I only need to feed once or twice a week to contain my hunger. If I were in a desperate state, once a month would be enough to keep me sane. Although that is, by far, not a very ideal situation for myself...

Should anyone be so willing as to aid me, I would like a chance to meet with you sometime soon so that I may be sure it would be safe to feed from you. As the Power of a soul relates directly a creature's own stamina, those who are prone to frequent illness or weakness would be best to refrain from offering. And, if you are so willing, I will also show the process by which I feed so you know what to expect in the future.

[[ooc: Okay, a few things to clarify in regards to Cheyenne's feeding! First, if you haven't filled out her permissions post, please do so here! It makes threading with her much easier if I know whether or not she can see your character.

And now, the feeding itself. If your character agrees to this, Cheyenne will appear at their home once every few weeks to feed. It takes about 5 minutes and will make your character light-headed or sleepy for a few hours, or until they eat something. Most of this will likely be hand-waived in the future, seeing as Cheyenne will probably just feed-and-leave for the most part.

In this post, Cheyenne will need to meet your character in person to see if they're safe to feed on, so this will be one of the few times the feeding will be played out! Illusionists can't over-eat souls, so she will be doing multiple feedings in one day just this once. If you want, we can hand-waive this as well and you can just have your character volunteer. Although it is true I only need to feed once a month to control myself, illusionists were not designed to live such a life. Even feeding twice a week, there is a constant hunger that never truly goes away.

Were I to refrain from feeding for too long, the hunger becomes most unbearable to the point of insanity. Although I will not starve to the point of death without souls, the peaceful creature you are speaking to would cease to exist. I would become, for lack of a better word, a true monster incapable of understanding right and wrong.

So, it's just something that's out of your control.

...so it's safe for the person you're feeding on? If you're in control of yourself?

That is true, yes. The only side affect of my feeding would be sleepiness or feeling light-headed, both of which can be remedied with a short nap or a meal.

You are most kind. If you would be so inclined, may I meet with you and perhaps show you the process by which I feed? It can be rather disorientating the first time for someone who has never dealt with illusions before.

The fountain is easiest for me to locate, given my limited vision. I should be rather easy to spot, seeing as I will be the only one wearing a blindfold.

Oh, a blindfold? [You're blind?] Alright, I'll keep my eyes open for you. [Off he goes and after a bit of looking it shouldn't take him too long to spot you.]

Ah, hello - Cheyenne? I'm Vash, we spoke over the journals?

[Cheyenne turns to the voice speaking and sees Vash, a smile crossing her face. Despite the blindfold, she's looking right up at him.]

Hello, Vash. Thank you for coming to meet with me. I know there are some here who would not be as trusting of a creature like myself, so I truly appreciate it.

[Luckily Vash is the type of person who likes to believe everyone has good within them.]

Well, you were being open with everything and it's out of your control. I can't fault you for doing something you can't help in the safest way you can, now can I? I'd hate it if someone called me a monster and hated me for things out of my control. [Which they do, so he can kinda understand where you're coming from.]

It is not entirely out of my control. The fact that I am able to ensure the safety of others and guarantee no creature is being fed upon against their will is, compared to other illusionists, very in control.

And on that note, is there anyone you would like to tell about your offer to assist me? When I previously spoke with a certain chef in regards to this, he mentioned wanting to ask his crew about it first. I believe others might feel the same?

Yes, as a matter of fact... are you a friend of his?

Yeah, you could say that, but ah it's alright, I don't need anyone else to know I'm doing this. [They might give him a sideways look and call him too trusting.]

In that case, I suppose now would be a good time to explain the process itself. [Her hand touches the bottom edge of her blindfold.]

Illusionists are so named because of the illusions we create whenever a creature looks into our eyes. Although we can manipulate what sort of illusion may appear, we are not able to control the illusions themselves... that is to say, were I to walk around with my eyes open, I would accidentally draw every creature I make eye contact with into an illusion.

It is through the use of these illusions that the soul of a creature becomes vulnerable, and I am able to draw it out. Breaking eye contact breaks the illusion, thus, preventing me from feeding.

[Ah, so that explains the blindfold.] Are the illusions dangerous to the people seeing them?

That is not such an easy answer. The illusions themselves are just that: illusions. However, in the same manner that I am unable to prevent my illusions from being activated when my eyes are open, I am also unable to create illusions without feeding on the soul in some manner.

If I am purposefully creating my illusions, they are harmless. I can choose to make them as plain or as peaceful as I wish. But, should my blindfold fall away and a person get a glimpse of my eyes before I have time to prepare... well. I suppose you could say all illusionists have a "default" of sorts. Unless I am consciously making an effort to control my illusions, the creature in question would have their worst possible fears reflected at them.

I see. [Wort fears? Vash doesn't really like that idea.] Ah, but I guess that's good that you'll be trying to control it as best you can.

Of course. I wish to do all I can to ensure safety to those living here.

There is one more matter to be dealt with. I would like for an opportunity to allow you to experience the illusions firsthand. That is, if it is not too much to ask, seeing as you have only just now received the information.

It will not be a regular feeding, so you would not feel any ill effects. Rather, I would simply be providing an example of my illusions.

Oh, yeah, I think that would be alright. I'll have to experience it sometimes after all, right? [Although he won't say it, he is a little nervous about it.]

Very well. [She scans the area for people, sensing that it was really just the two of them in the square right now, so it would be fine. It would only take a few moments, after all.]

I need you to sit down and shut your eyes. It is crucial that you absolutely do not open them until I say so. [She reaches up and begins to untie the blindfold.] Under no circumstances may you look until then.

[[ooc: Is Vash wearing his glasses right now? Because of the powercap, and since they're tinted, he'll see her eyes instead of an illusion. But Cheyenne won't realize that until her eyes are open~]]

[Vash hesitates a moment before sitting down and shutting his eyes. He tenses slightly and listens carefully, he may be trusting, but he's a bit too use to being double crossed to be completely trusting. So he's listening for any funny sounds or movements. Not to mention the idea of seeing illusions is not excatly comforting, but for now he'll keep his eyes shut as instructed.]

(OOC: Seeing as he's in "serious mode" yeah, he'd have them on. Mun will try to make note of things like that in the future. XD Should have guessed that things dealing with eyes would be important for something like that.)

[For a few moments, everything is silent. Cheyenne needs the time to adjust her eyes for the illusion. Finally, she speaks.] You may open your eyes.

[But something is amiss. Instead of an illusion, when Vash opens his eyes he'll see Cheyenne standing there, blindfold in her hands, and two curiously shiny eyes staring back at him.]

[Vash opens his eyes and sits for a moment, waiting for something to start, was it just her eyes that were suppose to change? He had expected something much more extensive and real feeling.] Uh, is the illusion just in your eyes? [Because they're very hypnotic and beautiful.]

...what?

[Suddenly her eyes snap shut and she jerks around, covering them with her hands.] What. It... didn't work. Why didn't it...

[A pause. She doesn't need to turn around in order to look over Vash, trying to sense a reason why the illusion wouldn't have worked on him.] This may seem an odd question, but are you wearing something over your eyes?
